Spectacular Double Exposure Oil Paintings

Korean artist Ho Ryon Lee ’s series entitled Overlapping Images incorporates a double exposure technique that is typically used in photography. The remarkable thing about this body of work is that the images are, in fact, oil paintings. The realistic renditions of the multitude of scantily clad women in these works employ a layering method that plays with opacity. There is a simulated sense of motion, as though we’re able to view several moments in time at once.

While the paintings reflect movement, they also exude a slow-motion sensuality. In most of Lee’s work, he represents a headless or faceless female form. It is a primal depiction of the male gaze and perhaps even illustrative daydreams of the adolescent male mind. There’s something about his work that seems voyeuristic while simultaneously celebrating the beauty of the female body.

Before September, I want to start making and bringing things together for my personal project, as I am wanting to gather things that are to do with my family and create something that represents my family. And improve my photography.

Over the Summer I am going on holiday with my family to Turkey, I am going to be working lots to be able to afford to have fun the following academic year and maybe go and do a ski season in the Christmas holidays. I will be moving house so decorate and settle in.

I am hoping to get some work experience so will hopefully find out what I am really interested in.

Statement of Intent

At the beginning of the year this is what my statement of intent was:

Currently I am unsure of what I would like to do, even though I know I want to be in the creative industry I still have a lot I want to learn, I do know I want to help people in any way possible

I feel this is very vague and shows how unclear I was on what I wanted to do.

I have learnt alot so far- Ceramics (which I have never done before)

- Photography, I have Learnt about better composition and more about camera skills, So I am able to take a better photograph now before I take it to editing stage.

I have learnt alot about computer software for example; Indesign, Photoshop etc.

I want to learn more about, Animation, Directing films and ultimately more hands on stuff as we have learnt alot about computerised stuff so far. I would like to work more in the ceramics section.

I need to become more motivated about projects as at the moment, I havent found a neesh so I want to find something that is really interesting as that will motivate me.

I am very weak with essays so seek help with essays before my dissertation.
